welcoming in 2010!

so, 2010 starts a whole new chapter in our lives. as you know, we have officially moved...but what you may not know is that we have moved to a new town. we now live in beaufort, sc (kind of a mini charleston about 60 miles away)....and we are going to add a new addition to our family in june....a little boy (which has been another reason i have slacked in blogging...thank goodness the first trimester is over)! we are super excited about starting this new chapter and hope y'all will be around to watch it all unfold....have a wonder new years and i'll see you in 2010 :)
xoxo pink wallpaper

*i promise to be back to my old blogging ways next week and if anyone is interested in design services in beaufort or nearby, please email me!

a picture recap....

so our weekend could not have been anymore fun! taylor is always timid at the beginning of trying new things but by the time she had been to a house or two, she started liking the idea of getting candy. she would say "one piece for me and i need one more for my daddy". what a sweet girl- good thing she likes to share ;) hope your halloween was equally as fun!

The Designer's Attic...

i'd like to introduce you to my newest venture....the designer's attic. it's a new blog i have created out of necessity. i live in a town jam-packed with goodies and it is impossible for me not buy an item when i spot a steal. my poor attic is busting at the seams with treasures i have held onto in hopes of eventually having a home for them. now, these little guys are ready to have a new home with you...
so what's in store at the designer's attic? items like thomas o'brein sconces, cole and son, osborne and little, victoria hagan fabric, sea cloth, and some vintage finds thrown in the mix. i will be updating regularly with my latest treasures so keep checking if you don't spot something that interests you right away!! and don't worry, pink wallpaper will definitely not suffer in the process! the only change will be that the feature fabric will now be on the designer's attic!
on another note, i just want to say a huge thank you to all of my readers. i am so blown away with the support, comments, and friendships that have developed from pink wallpaper...y'all are just the BEST! i never knew that all of this could happen from starting a little blog :)

what's hiding in your garage....

today i thought i would share w/ y'all what is hiding in my garage....this little diddy (along w/ my DR table and several other pieces i have collected from various thrift stores, yard sales, etc....drives my husband crazy b/c that is his one spot in the house). i found her under a lot of "junk" at one of my secret junkin' spots....when i saw the detail on the drawers of the chest, i knew it was special.
now the chest does have one catch, it was taken from a kiawah house where she was used as a vanity....so it has a hole in the top. i can't decide if i want to turn her back into a chest for my entryway; i could have a wooden top made or i could get a piece of marble cut for it. the other option would be to keep her as a vanity and used it in the 'next house' (wherever that maybe)...i would put a marble top on and maybe paint her a french blue....
so now i ask you...what treasures are lurking in your garage??

where i have been for the last two + days....

sorry i haven't been around much this week. i have been staging a house for a party that was last night. it is a spec home that i have been working on for the last 10 months and it is finally finishing up. kind of makes me sad. i told my husband that if we won the lottery, i would love to buy this house. it's funny how much of yourself you put into a project...at least i tend too. the builder/client decided to furnish the main rooms downstairs and i think it was a great idea. it really allows the perspective buyer to envision themselves living here vs. a huge empty room. i painted the entire downstairs (minus the master) white and i love the effect....the ceilings are a pale blue and it is such a soothing palette. it really allows you to show off the moldings and furniture. if anyone is in the market for a fabulous house in a great area, it could be yours :)

the bathrooms...

here are some of the bathrooms in the house that i am working on. the master is my personal favorite. we used a lot of marble in the bathrooms as counter tops, subway tiles, and then in a basket weave on the floor of the master. the tub in the master is waterworks candide in burnish. penny rounds were used in two of the guest baths (love them...great floor tile for anyone building or remodeling).

my work...

so one of the houses i am working on is almost finished and i wanted to show y'all some pics. the kitchen is one of my favorite spots. the house is on sullivan's so we went w/ a coastal look. shaker style cabinetry is definitely where i tend to lean...we did mix in beadboard for the island (its painted eliza lucas, one of my favorite colors- the brand use to be lord and evans but its from the historic charleston collection and i think SW owns it now). the counter top is calcutta marble honed. the refrigerator is a sub zero glass pro 48" w/ glass door. i persuaded the clients to use a white viking b/c i have been in love with suzanne kasler's 04' southern accent showhouse FOREVER (its crazy that i still love something that was designed 4 yrs ago- which makes suzanne even a more awesome designer). the bridge faucet is by rohl in polished nickel. the subway tile backsplash is waterworks (i wish you could see the sheen, its just gorgeous in person). and the lights are 19" harmon pendants in polished nickel from restoration hardware.
* sorry i am terrible at taking pics...i hope to have a professional shoot the house when everything is done. i'll show you more pics later on of the house....
